Metallica Discography
Kill 'Em All (1983) was the first studio album recorded by the thrash metal band Metallica. It features the legendary song (Anesthesia)--Pulling Teeth, also known as "Bass Solo Take One," written by deceased Metallica bassist Cliff Burton when he was just 14 years old. RIP Cliff (image on the right). Dave Mustaine, who left Metallica in 1983 to form the legendary band Megadeth, wrote a significant amount of the riffs and lyrics in this album, but it is hard to know exactly how much he should be credited for given his tension with the other band members prior to his removal. Most notably, in 1982, Dave Mustaine wrote the original Metallica song The Mechanix almost entirely by himself, but in 1983, Metallica changed the song lyrics and slowed it down, releasing it as The Four Horsemen on Kill 'Em All. On Megadeth's first album, Mustaine released his own version titled Mechanix, which more closeley resembles the original version. The lyrics of the song describe a mechanic who is sexually attracted to a customer and uses hardware / tool metaphors to express it.
